Morning Announcement

 Service club dues are now $10 payable to Evan Elling.

This Thursday during Lancer Time all club pictures of advisers and students will be taken for the yearbook. Please report to Lancer Time and you will be called down. 

Seniors, this Wednesday at Van Wert High School there will be a FAFSA completion night.  If you need help filling out your FAFSA, please come and bring a computer and bring your information. A college financial aid representative will be there to help.

College Credit Plus meeting will be on Wednesday, January 22nd at Van Wert High School Performing Arts Center.  It will be from 6:00-7:30. If you plan to take CCP courses next year, and have never taken classes, it is important that you attend.

This is a reminder for the annual Van Wert Optimist Club Oratorical Contest on Wednesday, Mar. 5, 2025 at 6 p.m. The topic this year is, “How Optimism Has Guided Me Through Trying Times." This is a 4-5 minute speech presentation. There is no minimum age, and all students (under age 19) are eligible to participate. Prizes of $300, $200, and $100 will be awarded for the top three contestants with the chance to move on and win scholarships of $2,500 up to $22,500. See Mrs. Leeth or Mrs. Lloyd if you need an application.

St. Rita's Medical Center is looking for teens who would like to consider being a part of our Teen Volunteer Summer Program to volunteer a minimum of 40 hours between June – August, 2025. This program offers an opportunity to preview careers in healthcare, including but not limited to, working in specific departments in the hospital, helping in our Gift or Thrift Shops, spending time in nutrition, or checking out what our maintenance crews do.  Deadline to apply is March 1st. See Mrs. Leeth or Mrs. Lloyd for more information.

The 7th grade spelling bee is today in Mrs. Dowdy’s classroom during Lancer Time. If you are participating, come to Mrs. Dowdy's classroom  at Lancer Time.

The Junior High girls’ basketball teams took on the Ottoville Big Green last night. The Big Blue of Lincolnview proved too much as the 7th grade won 37-12, and the 8th grade won 40-10. Addie Breese led the 7th graders with 16 points, while Cora Geiger added another 10. Mya Wilkinson led the 8th graders with 18 points, Ansley Schwab had 9 points and 5 steals, and MaKayla Marsee pulled down 5 rebounds. The 7th and 8th grade girls play their final home regular season game Thursday vs Allen East in the Elementary gym.

On Saturday, the Varsity Lady Lancers fought hard, but struggled offensively, which led to a loss against Crestview, 48-29. Regardless of this loss, they finished the week 2-1. The JV Lady Lancers defeated Crestview, 21-20. The next game for our girls will be at home against Antwerp on Tuesday, January 14th. Come out and support the team.

There will be a Student Council meeting today during Lancer time in the library.
