This past Friday night at Crestview High School (Lincolnview vs. Crestview Boys Basketball Varsity/JV Game), the Lincolnview Student Council won the “United Way Rivals Challenge.” The challenge was to see which school could raise the most money for the United Way of Van Wert County.  The results were: Lincolnview Local Schools & community raising $8,012.03 to Crestview’s $6,192.37. It was great seeing the Lincolnview students and community standing and cheering on the win and feeling proud of raising so much money in one week.  That speaks volumes of our community and how special it is to be a LANCER!! It was also special seeing our Lincolnview student council members joining with the Crestview student council members in singing our fight song, which represented the theme for the fundraiser - "Rivals United".  Mr. Mendenhall also had the privilege of giving a pie in the face to the principal of Crestview High School. (see VW times Bulletin)

Lincolnview Student Council also won the first ever traveling trophy, which is displayed in the trophy case. The Student Council would like to thank everyone for helping us in this fundraiser event - High School students, Junior High students, elementary students, Carey Insurance, Wilkinson Printing, and various other community members who generously donated. It took all of us to make a difference for such a great cause. It was such a proud moment for our community and that is why our school and our community is so unique. Proud to be a LANCER!

As a result of the amount of money that was raised in this one event between the two schools, the following organizations will be able to fund their United Way requests entirely for 2016: American Red Cross - Smoke Alarm Program, Middle Point Ballpark Youth Association, Lincolnview Latchkey, Convoy Food Pantry, Wren Ballpark, and Convoy Sports Center.
