February is  Teen Dating Violence Awareness month, one in three girls in the U.S. will become a victim of physical, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner. Young ladies between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest rate of intimate partner violence, but even our middle school children are at risk, with abusive behaviors often beginning as early as 12-years-old.  Young men are not immune to becoming victims of dating abuse. And young men - as well as young women - need to learn what a healthy relationship is, and what it is not.  To get information about healthy relationship you can visit loveisrespect.org.

FFA week is this week!  Who do you want to see kiss a pig??  Jars for teachers will be placed in front of the HS office and in the lunchroom starting next week… money will go toward Nationwide Children’s Hospital and whoever raises the most money at the end of next week will have to wear bright lipstick and kiss a pig in front of the entire school during Ag Olympics next Friday!  Plan to bring money for this great cause!

The Marsh Foundation will be hiring Summer Help for the Maintenance Department.  The job will be starting in April/May of 2017 ending in September 2017.  If you are interested, please see Mr. Mendenhall for more details.

FFA Week Announcements

Tuesday

It’s National FFA Week!  Here’s your FFA Fun Fact of the day: Members across the country celebrated the first national FFA Day in 1933. In 1948 this was changed to FFA Week and celebrated during George Washington’s birthday to recognize his pioneering contributions to American Agriculture.  In 1960, 1 farmer could feed 25 people.  Today's American farmer feeds about 155 people worldwide.  Thank you for wearing red, white and blue to show your appreciation for American farmers!

·       The Cornhole tournament starts today during Lancer time, only teams that signed up last week are eligible.  Please check in with your Lancer Time teacher before coming to the gym.

·       Who do you want to see “kiss a pig”?  Donate before school or during lunch- whoever raises the most money will kiss a real pig on Friday!  Remember, all money goes to the Children’s Hospital.

·       Thursday is the truck drive-in! A contest will be held for the dirtiest, cleanest, and overall favorite truck.  Winners will be announced during Friday’s Ag Olympics assembly so plan accordingly to bring a truck Thursday.

·      The staff breakfast is tomorrow morning from 7:15 – 8:15 in the ag room.

·      Tomorrow is also CAMO Day

·       If you happen to see Ryanne Eversole today, wish her good luck as she competes this afternoon at Districts in the FFA creed speaking contest.
