Getting More Students to Begin their Day with Breakfast

Getting More Students to Begin their Day with Breakfast

“Start Your Engines” Campaign Encourages Lincolnview Local Schools Families to Choose Breakfast at School

To encourage more families to take advantage of the healthy choices available for school breakfast, Lincolnview Local schools will celebrate National School Breakfast Week during March 4-8, 2019.

Busy weekday mornings make it a challenge for many families to find time for a healthy breakfast. However, US Department of Agriculture data show that more and more students are starting their day with a nutritious breakfast in their school cafeterias. The USDA School Breakfast Program currently serves 14 million students every day. Studies show that students who eat school breakfast are more likely to:

  • Reach higher levels of achievement in reading and math
  • Score higher on standardized tests
  • Have better concentration and memory
  • Be more alert
  • Maintain a healthy weight
Make-up Days

Unfortunately, this school year we have had a higher than normal number of delays and cancellations, especially since coming back from Christmas break, where we have missed four additional school days. All together we have missed “9” full days of school so we will be making up four of them by following the school calendar make-up day protocol.  Please put this on your calendar of make-up days, in which we will be now in session of school:

Monday, February 18th, 2019

Thursday, April 18th, 2019

Tuesday, May 28th, 2019

Wednesday, May 29th, 2019

Let’s hope we have the most challenging weather behind us and we can begin to enjoy sun and warmth the rest of the school year!!
