May 8th - PRACTICE Evacuation Drill Information
Dear Lincolnview Parent,

This letter is to inform you that the Lincolnview Local School District will be having an “Evacuation Drill” practice on Monday – May 8th in conjunction with the Van Wert County Sheriff’s office, the Middle Point Fire Department, and the Van Wert County Emergency Management Agency.  The Lincolnview district has steps in place to address student and staff safety issues through the adoption of a District-wide Emergency Response Plan. The plan would be implemented in the event of a local disaster or school emergency. The Emergency Response Plan is a preparatory measure. Statistics show schools are still among the safest places to be on a day-to-day basis, due to the strong commitment of educators, parents, and communities to their children. Nevertheless, disasters do happen and, because of that, no community can be complacent in its efforts to make its schools even safer. For this reason we have implemented the Plan, and will be having a practice drill on May 8th, so please do not be alarmed by this precautionary action.

In addition to practicing the drill, we will also be discussing with the students the appropriate actions to take during this type of evacuation. This drill and accompanying discussions are designed to prepare your child to act quickly and to minimize your child’s fear should an emergency occur.

As part of the evacuation drill for Lincolnview, students will quickly leave the building and board school busses that will then transport students to a safe location away from the school campus and that location is the Marsh Foundation School.  Once completed, students will return to school and to their normal schedule.  Teachers will discuss with students the importance of the drill and their expectations, as well as answer any questions the students may have.  Administration and local agencies will work together to have discussions for needed preparation and possible changes/additions to the current safety plan.

Finally, your cooperation in allowing us to prepare your child for the event of an emergency and helping us to ensure their safety is greatly appreciated.  Should you have any questions, please contact the Lincolnview District office at (419)-968-2226.

Sincerely,

Mr. Jeff Snyder
